Aloysio de Andrade Faria

Aloysio de Andrade Faria (born November 9, 1920 in Belo Horizonte ) is a Brazilian entrepreneur and banker .

Life

In 1949 Faria followed his father Clemente de Faria into the management of the Brazilian Banco da Lavouro and formed it into Banco Real in the following decades . In the 1990s he sold his shares in the bank to the Dutch bank ABN AMRO . From the proceeds he founded the Conglomerado Alfa group of companies , to which Banco Alfa belongs. The largest Latin American producer of palm oil , Agropalma , and the hotel chain Transamérica are also owned by Faria. According to Forbes Magazine , Faria is one of the richest Brazilians and is listed in The World's Billionaires 2005. Faria is married and has two daughters.
