The Alpenbach is a left tributary of the lower Ruhr (GWKZ 276 9912). It begins at Landsberg Castle and flows north parallel to August-Thyssen-Strasse in the Essen city ​​area to Mintard . It absorbs the water from the Rodenbuschbach and the Landsberger Graben . After a length of 3.2 km it flows into the Ruhr at the Mintard water station in Mintard, Mülheim, at river kilometer 20.7. The city of Mülheim is renaturing the stream.
