from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alpine League was a Tyrolean resistance movement as part of the Sixth Coalition War in 1812/13. The movement was led by Josef von Hormayr and initiated by Archduke Johann . Both intended to organize an uprising against Napoleon . The Alpine League was established by Anton Leopold von Roschmann-Hörburg to Metternich , the foreign minister of Emperor Franz II / I. of Austria , betrayed. This then had Hormayr and his colleague Anton Schneider arrested in 1813, Archduke Johann was no longer allowed to enter Tyrol . Another 45 Tyrolean emigrants were expelled and had to avoid Vienna. The Bavarians had 40 Tyrolean co-conspirators who had stayed in the country, including Rupert Wintersteller , arrested and sentenced to long fortress sentences.

Due to its betrayal of Metternich on February 1, 1813, the Alpine League had no direct impact.
