The Pockkogel is a 2807 m high mountain in the Stubai Alps in Tyrol . Its name goes back to the first climber, the Innsbruck mountain pioneer Julius Pock .
location
The Pockkogel is located south of the Kühtai saddle and the Kühtai ski area . This extends up to approx. 800 meters north of the summit at an altitude of 2400 m in a high valley called Oberplenderle . The Drei-Seen-Hütte and the Obere and Untere Plenderlessee are located here . To the northwest, the Pockkogel sends a rocky ridge that carries the 2642 m high Neunerkogel . To the west of the mountain lies the Finstertalspeicher at 2300 m . Another ridge runs to the southwest to the 2743 m ( northern ) and 2741 m ( southern ) high stone valley peaks . South of the summit is the Steintal , a side valley of the Kraspestal , which flows into the Sellraintal near Haggen . A sharp ridge runs east to the 2808 m high Windegg and from there on to the 2685 m high Gaißkogelscharte and the 2820 m high Gaißkogel .
Paths to the summit
The normal route to the summit, which was also chosen by the first climbers in 1876, leads from Finstertalspeicher over the western flank ( UIAA I ). This ascent is also possible as a ski tour . The paths over the Steintal ( UIAA II ) and from the northeastern Gaißkogelscharte ( UIAA III- ) are more difficult. A via ferrata ( difficulty DE ) has been leading through the steep northern flank since 2006 .
