Alpenländische Metallwerke Bühl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alpenländische Metallwerke Bühl were a bell foundry in the Tyrolean municipality of Bad Häring (until 1965 Häring).

history

Bells have been cast in the Bühl bell foundry since 1949. Only bronze bells were made. In 1970 the bell casting was discontinued due to a lack of demand. By then about 250-300 bells had been cast. The largest bell rings in Kirchbichl , bell 1 (a 0 ), cast in 1950. But three more bells were cast for this parish church.

The foundry was taken over in 1990 by the sons of the previous owner Kurt Bühl, Gunter and Helfried Bühl as managing partners in equal parts. In 2000 Gunter Bühl was found shot dead. In 2003 the foundry with its last three locations in Schwoich, Bad Häring and Klagenfurt became insolvent and in 2004 it was taken over by Josef Stiegler. The foundry continues to operate today as MWS (Metallwerke Stiegler) Aluguss GmbH, but the Bad Häring site was closed in 2004.
