alpha Austria is a regular broadcast on the television education channel ARD-alpha . The show is a cooperation between the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) and the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation (BR).

The broadcast is produced on behalf of Bayerischer Rundfunk and implemented by the ORF main department, General Management / Planning. About two-thirds of the broadcasting time consists of archive productions by ORF (e.g. Inside Brussels , Science Talk and Denk mit Kultur ) and one-third of new productions for ARD-alpha. The broadcast is produced in cooperation with the ORF regional studios and the ORF television main departments, Current Affairs and Education, Culture and Religion. The Austrian ORF cultural radio Ö1 is also involved in the production. The topics of the program come from the fields of culture, education, science, society, philosophy and religion. The series alpha Austria has been broadcast on the education channel BR-alpha since June 1, 2000 (renamed ARD-alpha since June 29, 2014).
