Paracel Islands Map (Xisha Islands) |
In Jiao ( Chinese 北 礁 , Pinyin Běi Jiāo , English North Reef - " North Reef / Northern Reef") is the Chinese name for the northernmost atoll of the Xisha Islands (Paracel Islands). It is located in the extreme north of the Yongle Qundao (永乐 群岛), to which it is counted, and has no islands and therefore no land area. Various ancient Chinese shipwrecks have been discovered and excavated here recently. The Beijiao Shipwreck Site (Beijiao chenchuan yizhi 北 礁 沉船 遗址) has been on the List of Monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-175) since 2006 .
