Alpha Galates , founded in 2001 as The Hollow , is a Canadian progressive metal band originally from Medicine Hat, Alberta, but whose members now live in Toronto , Ontario .

Band history

Matthew Wagner, Karen Wagner and Todd Lefever founded The Hollow in 2001. The band released three independently produced albums on the Swarm Theory label. Her debut album Natio was released in 2002 and the following albums Vita and from Gehenna in 2004. Another album called Obitus followed in 2006, but was only released on iTunes . All albums were produced and mixed by singer and drummer Matthew von Wagner.

Drummer Colin Snortland soon left the band and Matthew von Wagner took over the drums from now on. Rowan McPhail joined the band as a guitarist and from 2006 Harmony played keyboard .

After EMI Music Canada President Dean Cameron spotted the band performing at the bovine sex club in Toronto, the band signed a deal with EMI in December and recorded two new songs that were later added to the album Obitus . In February 2008 their fifth album A Stimulus For Reason was released , for the first time under the new name of the band Alpha Galates.

In January 2008, the band recorded their first video for the song Standing . It is based on the story of the movie You Live! by John Carpenter .

In March and April of the same year Alpha Galates toured Canada with GrimSkunk and also played at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in the summer .
