Alpl mountain race

The Alpl hill climb was a hill climb in Styria that was organized annually from 1954 to 1990 by the Styrian Automobile and Motorsport Club.

The Alpl hill climb was organized for automobiles and motorcycles and was part of the European hill climb championship for automobiles from the 1970s .

The last race took place on October 7, 1990, when there was an accident with numerous seriously injured spectators. As a result, no further hill climb was held on the route.

Routing

The temporary race track on which the international events were held was around 6.5 km long and had 14 curves. It led between the two villages of Krieglach and St. Kathrein am Hauenstein on Weizer Straße (B 72) up to the Alpl .
