Old German text library

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Altdeutsche Textbibliothek ( ATB for short ) is an edition series of Middle High German texts founded by Hermann Paul . The series was continued by Georg Baesecke and Hugo Kuhn and is now published by Burghart Wachinger . The first editions included the poems Walthers von der Vogelweide (ATB 1), Hartmann von Aues Gregorius (ATB 2) and his poor Heinrich (ATB 3). The orange-brown paperback volumes were published by Max Niemeyer Verlag , until it was fully integrated into the program of the Berlin science publisher de Gruyter as an imprint in 2006 . New publications and new editions now appear in a new gray-wine-red layout with the publisher's name de Gruyter. The titles are also offered as eBooks in parallel to the print editions . Experienced Germanists are responsible for the issues.

Edition history

Volumes 1 (1882) - 43 (1955) were published by Max Niemeyer Verlag in Halle / Saale, with interruptions for the years 1939–1952. In 1955 the publishing house moved to Tübingen, which continues the series with consecutive numbering. The series now comprises over 120 volumes.

New editions of older editions may appear depending on the progress made in the science of editions and new text witnesses become known.

In 1963 the publishing house started a "supplementary series" on the subject of literature for the friend of God .
