The Alte Apotheke is a historic building on the market square ( Stora Torget ) in the Swedish town of Hedemora , which was granted monument status in 2010 .

The single-storey house with a loft has a partially visible basic structure made of red-colored wooden beams that are mostly covered with red wooden shingles . The building forms an angle that follows the adjacent streets. There is a tower-like entrance area on the courtyard side of this corner. Various details such as the white windows and doors are decorated with elements in the style of Swedish national romanticism. These were mainly created during a renovation in 1897 under the direction of the architect Lars Israël Wahlman .

The house was probably built by a businessman in 1779. It was used as a pharmacy from 1849 after the pharmacist CA Ruth moved in. From 1752 to this point in time, the local pharmacy was in a neighboring building. Medicines and other medical products were sold here until 1988. After that, the local tourist office was housed in the building until 2013. There are currently various work rooms in the house.
