The old dike break point Lütetsburg is a protected, extensive natural monument in Lütetsburg , a municipality in the joint municipality of Hage in the Lower Saxony district of Aurich in East Friesland . It bears the number ND AUR 00115.

Description of the area

The extensive natural monument, designated on June 8, 1984, is located east of Kreisstraße 242 (Kolkbrücker Weg). For the most part, it consists of silted up still water with swinging lawn and a strip of wood on all sides. According to the district of Aurich, the area is a "rare biotope with swinging lawn areas and swamp bushes" as well as spawning grounds and feeding grounds for amphibians . According to the authority, the area is also important for cultural and historical reasons.
