The Alte Mainbrücke Lohr is a 259 meter long road bridge in Lohr am Main ( Lower Franconia ). It spans the Main with two lanes and sidewalks on both sides at river kilometer 197.95 and connects the old town of Lohr with the eastern district of Sendelbach.
The stone arch bridge was built from 1871 to 1875 in red Main sandstone . On March 27, 1945, a river pillar of the bridge was blown up by German units. The pillar and the two adjacent arches were rebuilt in concrete and clad with sandstone. The reopening took place on May 25, 1946. In 1968 the roadway was widened with a new 30 cm thick deck. Repairs are planned due to moisture damage to the arches and the roadway. In addition, a ship shock protection is to be installed.
The structure, which is straight in plan, consists of two flood openings on the left Main river with center distances of 11.05 m and 11.04 m, a dam section 19.06 m in length, six arches with center distances between 29.25 m and 29.68 m, and one on the right Main river Dam section with 18.95 m and two flood openings with 11.04 m and 11.05 m length. The pillars are 4.0 m wide, the arches have a clearance between 25.25 m and 25.68 m. For shipping at the highest navigable water level, the central arch has a maximum clearance height of 6.5 m.
