The Kaiser Jeep Corporation in Toledo (Ohio) was created in 1963 by renaming from the Willys Motor Company . The owner Kaiser Industries wanted to unite all of its companies under the corporate name.

history

Kaiser Jeep took over the entire Jeep range, for example the Jeep CJ , Jeep FC and Jeep Wagoneer , from Willys Motor Company .

In 1967, the company brought the Jeepster back from the sinking that Willys-Overland had manufactured from 1948 to 1950. The car was completely redesigned, but based on the CJ. The Jeepster was available in three versions (Roadster, Cabriolet and Pickup). However, its success on the market was limited.

AMC looked around to expand its product range and had occasionally negotiated with Kaiser managers. In 1970 the purchase agreement was signed and Kaiser Jeep became Jeep Corporation , a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMC.

In 1987/1988 AMC and with it Jeep were taken over by Chrysler .
