The Willys Jeep Truck was similar to the Jeep Wagon and the Jeep Jeepster VJ-2 and VJ-3. It was introduced in 1947 and had the model names 2T and 4T. These vehicles were equipped with the Willys Go Devil engine with 2196 cc and the Borg-Warner T90 three-speed transmission of the CJ-2A . In 1950 the truck got a facelift and was henceforth called the 473 ; the new Hurricane four-cylinder engine was available on request. The new V-shaped grille with five horizontal bars was also introduced on this model. The steps on the side of the truck bed fell away. After 1950, the rear-wheel drive model no longer existed either. In 1953 the new model was called 475 and the number of horizontal grille bars was reduced to three. A six-cylinder model, the 6-226 , was offered from 1954; as a result, sales of the Model 475 fell significantly. The 226 was discontinued in 1962 in favor of the new Tornado engine 6-230 with an overhead camshaft. The curb weight of the wagons is given as 1404–1495 kg.

There was only one transmission, the manual Borg-Warner T90 three-speed transmission. The four-wheel drive models had a Spicer 18 drive train. A rear axle, type Timken 51540 , was available on request for the early models , otherwise the Dana 53 was standard. The front axle was a Dana 25 . A gear ratio of 5.38: 1 was also standard on the differential.
Over 200,000 trucks were built.
