The Jeep Patriot is a compact crossover SUV that debuted at the 2006 New York International Auto Show . It was launched in the USA in early 2007.

Jeep Patriot 2.2 CRD Limited (2010-2016)

In the range of the Jeep brand, it lies between the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Cherokee . It is based on the GS platform developed jointly by DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi , on which the Jeep Compass and the Dodge Caliber are also based. Together with these two vehicles, it was manufactured at the Belvidere plant in Illinois (USA). The Patriot is both with front-wheel drive and with the Freedom Drive I mentioned all-wheel drive available. There are two motors to choose from. Both are in-line gasoline engines with four cylinders, one with 2.4 l and the other with 2.0 l displacement. The latter without all-wheel drive, but with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) as standard . The 2.4-liter engine works as standard via a manually shifted five-speed gearbox or optionally via the continuously variable gearbox.

The drag coefficient (c _w ) is 0.41.

From the end of 2007 the Patriot was officially available in Germany. However, the 2.0-l petrol engine was not offered here, but a 2.4-l four-cylinder petrol engine with 125 kW (170 hp). This was available with a 5-speed manual gearbox or with a continuously variable automatic. In addition, there was the 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine (2.0 CRD) with 103 kW (140 PS), which was only available for Europe. This four-cylinder in-line engine comes from the Volkswagen Group , corresponds to the 2.0 TDI engine known there (previous version with pump-nozzle injection) and is equipped with a diesel particulate filter as standard in the Patriot . This engine is connected to a manual six-speed gearbox . In April 2010 the 2.0 CRD diesel engine was replaced by a 2.2 CRD (Mercedes-Benz) with 120 kW (163 hp). At the end of 2010, sales of the Jeep Patriot in Germany ceased, in the USA the vehicle continued to be sold until the end of 2016.

The Patriot was revised for the 2011 model year. Externally only moderately modernized, but technically revised: A newly tuned chassis with different spring / damper combinations and a stronger stabilizer improve road holding and driving comfort. As with the 2011 Jeep Wrangler, the interior has been thoroughly modernized and upgraded with better materials. There was also the standard steering wheel and the new Jeep entertainment system.

Registration numbers

Between 2007 and 2011, only 2,076 Jeep Patriots were newly registered in Germany. 2008 was the most successful sales year with 832 units.
