The Jeep Gladiator was a large flatbed truck based on the Jeep SJ Wagoneer . It was introduced in 1962. There were the following versions:

  • J 200 for short wheelbase cars up to 1965
  • J 300 for long wheelbase cars up to 1965
  • J 2000 for cars with short wheelbase from 1965
  • J 3000 for cars with long wheelbase from 1965
  • J 4000 for cars with a wheelbase of 3327 mm

The Gladiator was available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with a rigid axle at the front or individually suspended front wheels, and on request with twin tires at the rear. It was available as a chassis with a driver's cab, tow truck, flatbed truck and with a camper body. The available variations of the bed were: Townside, Thriftside and bed body.

In 1971 the name Gladiator was given up. After that the car was called Jeep Pickup with the models J 2000 and J 4000 until 1973, and J 20 from 1974 to 1988. The military versions were called M-715 and M-725.

The Jeep Honcho was not a separate model, but only a marketing name for a special equipment package.

At the end of 2004, a concept vehicle based on the Jeep Wrangler with the name Jeep Gladiator was presented. The car was not supposed to go into series production, but rather show what Jeep was planning for the future. The gladiator had a fabric roof, a folding windshield, doors that could be unhooked and a pull-out bed. It had a 2.8 liter four-cylinder common rail turbo diesel engine that developed 163 bhp (120 kW) of power and 400 Nm of torque. The manual gearbox has 6 levels. The ground clearance is 348 mm, the tipping angle 23.2 °, the approach angle 47.6 ° at the front and 38 ° at the rear. The rear and front tires are 34 "and sit on 18" x 8 "rims. The payload is 680 kg.
