The first documentary mention can be traced back to the 11th century, when the mill in the Gundelsheim district was under Horneck Castle .
The ground plan of the mill has the shape of a ship, as the water always flowed past the mill to the left and right during high tide and the mill was then an island. The mill operation was stopped in 1935 when the Neckar and its barrages were made navigable. The two kilometer long mill ditch was filled in and the mill, although it was located directly on the Neckar, ran out of water after more than 800 years of operation. After that it was used for residential purposes and was also a restaurant for a while.
Today the mill with its 110 m² covered terrace can be rented for festive events.
