Old Post Office (Drensteinfurt)
The Alte Post is one of the most important architectural monuments in the city of Drensteinfurt in the Warendorf district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The half-timbered bourgeois house is located on Mühlenstrasse and was built in 1647. It has a considerable size for its time (28.30 m long and 12.85 m wide) and initially served as a warehouse and granary. In addition, there was already a living space in the building. From 1850 to 1917 it served as a post office, which is where the name of the building is derived. The stagecoaches and horses were stored there.
Between 1976 and 1980 it was extensively renovated and is used for council meetings, weddings and exhibitions. On June 28, 1982 it was entered in the list of historical monuments of the city of Drensteinfurt. An old fountain, part of the ensemble, has also been a listed building since January 20, 2005.
