The wayside shrine in Nordheim

The so-called fourteen holy shrine stands on the edge of the wine village of Nordheim am Main on Hallburger Weg, which leads to the castle of the same name.

history

Since 1652 there has been a pilgrimage of the Nordheimers to Vierzehnheiligen. On the way, on Hallburger Strasse, the wayside shrine depicts the fourteen saints. An inscription indicates the donor: “Joh. Franz Felbaum and Barbara my Hauß wife […] read anno 1720 ”. The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation classifies the wayside shrine as a monument under the number D-6-75-155-27.

The torture can be assigned to the baroque . On the sides of the rectangular base are two angel heads framed by rich fruit ornaments . Grapevines are worked into the round column. The attachment is also rectangular, its sides are much narrower. Reliefs of St. John and St. Barbara border the stick.

The coronation of Mary is depicted on the west side , above there are two putti . An inscription in a medallion below reads: "All sexes / praise me blessed". The east side of the wayside shrine shows the fourteen saints, grouped around St. Christopher with the baby Jesus and above them also two putti.
