Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Depsried

The Roman Catholic Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is located in Depsried , a district of Altusried in the Oberallgäu district ( Bavaria ). The listed chapel was built in 1704. The building consists of a nave that is connected to the barrel-vaulted choir by a round choir arch . The nave has a flat ceiling . The choir, closed on three sides, contains Tuscan pilasters in the corners, as well as oval and arched windows. A roof turret is attached to the chapel . The chapel was restored in 1905, and the painting probably also dates from this time.

The altar from the time the chapel was built consists of two columns. In the shell niche there is a figure of a Mother of God on the crescent moon from around 1700. The two peasant carved figures from the 19th century show the apostles Peter and Paul . Angel heads and a Holy Spirit dove are attached to the entablature of the altar. The two heavily damaged paintings depicting St. Martin and St. Sebastian date from the 18th century .
