The road Altenbrücker Torstraße located in the southeast of the center of Lueneburg .
location
Altenbrückertorstraße runs in a west-east direction from the city center to the train station, it begins on the street near the Johanniskirche . During its course it crosses the Ilmenau and the Lösegraben. The following streets leave the street or cross (from west to east): At the Johanniskirche , Ilmenaustraße , north Schießgrabenstraße , south Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke , north Altenbrückendamm , south An der Wittenberger Bahn and Bahnhofstraße . Under the railway bridges, the road continues in an easterly direction as Dahlenburger Landstrasse . The length of the street is about 330 meters. The house numbering starts in the west on the south side of the street and runs in a horseshoe back to the north side of the street in the west.
history
The street has existed since at least the 13th century. As long as a wooden bridge over the Ilmenau is known, which used a ford here to cross the river. Dobra the name before Altenbrücker doors , it was in the name of 1860 Altenbrücker Torstraße changed. It is known that the von Wittdorf family took bridge payments in 1530. In 1581 the City Council of Lüneburg bought the bridge with all its obligations from Duke Wilhelm the Younger . The last wooden bridge was built in 1823/1824. This bridge was replaced by the first stone bridge in 1876. From 1968 to 1969 the road was widened and the first stone bridge was replaced, while the old bridge railing was reused.

Residential building | The house Altenbrückerstraße 1 is on the corner of Bei der Ratsmühle. (before 1872 goat market). The house is set back from the street. A house has stood here since 1566, and was a forge until the middle of the 20th century. There has been a restaurant here since 1991. | ||

Residential building | The villa "Olga" was built from 1894 to 1895. The villa has a front garden and a large garden plot.
