Alternative Büchner Prize
The Alternative Büchner Prize was donated by the Darmstadt citizen Walter Steinmetz and was primarily intended to commemorate the political Georg Büchner as a democrat. The award was endowed with 10,000 DM (approx. 5,000 euros). It should not be confused with the Georg Büchner Prize .
