history

In the spring of 1557, the Eglosheim pastor Konrad Schaffner was transferred to Asperg. He complied and only asked for a renovation of the rectory that he was to live in with his wife and child. During the 11-month siege of Hohenasperg in 1634/35 by imperial troops, many houses in the city at the foot of the mountain fell victim to the flames. Michaelskirche was not spared either. Only the foundations and the cellar remained of the rectory. The Asperger pastor's position initially remained vacant and was looked after by a pastor from Möglingen. In 1639 Pastor Johann Heinrich Fischlin came to Asperg. Like all Asperger citizens, he had to live in an emergency shelter. He performed the service in Asperg until he was transferred to Heumaden in 1646. In 1648 French troops invaded Asperg and destroyed buildings and crops. The ducal councils approved the Aspergers in the most prestigious offices of the country to collect a fire tax and to use the money for the reconstruction of the rectory. A very dilapidated administrative building in Markgröningen was to be demolished and rebuilt in Asperg. It is not possible to say exactly when the rectory was opened. As early as April 1662, however, it was urgently needed to be repaired. Johann Friedrich Flattich (born on October 3, 1713 in Beihingen) took his first pastoral position to Asperg: At the beginning of his office, Flattich lived in the old parsonage; later his residence was moved to the Hohenasperg . The rectory was significantly improved and modernized in 1825 by the Ludwigsburg camera administration ; In 1840 the dispensable parish barn was sold for demolition. The new rectory was completed in 1865 and the old one was sold the following year. The Kübler Jakob Kranich bought the property. In the years 1956–1958, the building received contemporary renovations and new windows. A small theater with 150 seats and a meeting room with 50 table seats was built in 1977 in the old rectory through private initiative and funding. The renovation work has been carried out in style and offers an ideal space for the purposes of a cultural association.

The small tithe used to be stored in the former parish barn. Today there is the theater hall of the Glasperlenspiel.

Todays use

Today the building is used by the Das Glasperlenspiel theater in Asperg . It was founded by Horst Maßholder and moved in 1987 - first as a tenant, then as the owner - in Kelterstrasse 5 in the former rectory. The association maintains a cabaret with its own amateur theater stage and organizes all kinds of cultural events in the former old rectory in Asperg.
