The old rectory in Bad Rappenau - Fürfeld in the district of Heilbronn in northern Baden-Württemberg dates from the late 16th century and is the second oldest building in the town after Fürfeld Castle .

history

The building was erected in 1589 on Schlossbergstrasse as a parsonage next to the original Fürfeld church and served its purpose for around 250 years. The year of construction can be seen as an inscription on the lintel of the building.

The neighboring old church in Fürfeld was already in serious disrepair in the 18th century, so that a church building fund was launched as early as the 1780s. During a visit to the church and rectory in 1815, the monastery administration in Gundelsheim described the rectory as an “old, rotten building. It offers so many deficiencies, even police deficiencies, that this situation can no longer continue without danger for the residents and the neighborhood. ” The church building fund had meanwhile shrunk to insignificance due to the high taxes in the war years 1806 to 1814. Half of the remaining money was left for the building of the church, the other half complained about the Gemmingen'sche Rentamt in 1826 that it had been "spent in a useless way in the rectory without the complaints about its internal furnishings having ceased." The church remained meanwhile not renovated. In 1841 the church tower was demolished.

In 1842 the previous pastor Gessler moved and the pastor's post was then only filled with parish administrators. Since the construction of a new Protestant church with a new rectory on the outskirts was already planned, the community acquired the old rectory in 1844 and converted it into a poor house .

In 1869 the community acquired the Ritter inn , which was used as a post office until 1860, with farm areas and ancillary buildings. The inn was then converted into a rectory and moved into in 1870. In 1871/73, today's Evangelical Church of Fürfeld was built on the site of the outbuildings of the former post office . The old church was converted into a barn in 1874.

In 1887 the community administration of Fürfeld moved into the old rectory. After Fürfeld was incorporated into Bad Rappenau in 1973, the building continued to be used as an administrative office. A music school has been using the old rectory since the inauguration of a community center in 1995.
