Altos de Chavón is a replica of a 16th century style village and a tourist attraction in the La Romana province of the Dominican Republic .

The village was devised by two Paramount Pictures employees : the film architect Roberto Copa and Charles Bluhdorn. Construction began in 1976 when a path was blasted free for a road and a bridge over the Rio Chavón, leaving lots of stones at hand. The village was completed in the early 1980s.
