In early chemistry ( alchemy ) and pharmacy, Aludel are special pots that are used for sublimation . They are made of clay, have no bottom and are stacked in a tower. The bottom is connected to a pot containing the substance to be sublimated. All seams are closed with clay and the whole apparatus is placed in the fire. The top vessel is used to collect the sublimed substance.
