Alum Bay, Isle of Wight. On the far right the needles

The Alum Bay is a bay on the north side in the far west of the Isle of Wight (South England ). Alum Bay is known for its cliffs made of layers of colored sand (stone) that fall perpendicular to the sea. All colors can be found there, from red to brown to black. The Needles can be visited by boat from Alum Bay .

Above Alum Bay there is a small fairground with small carousels and souvenir shops for tourists. A special souvenir of Alum Bay are these different layers of sand, which you can buy packed together in small glasses. There is also a chairlift down from the cliffs to the sea. Swimming is almost not possible on the 5 m wide beach.
