Aluminum Laufen AG Liesberg is a Swiss company in the metal industry , based in Liesberg , Canton Basel-Land .

The company is in the production of aluminum - semi- active and specializes in the production of for installation / assembly finished castings and extrusions with high demands on quality and precision.

Around 55 percent of the annual production of over 26,000 tonnes is exported to surrounding countries (Germany, France), primarily to manufacturers in the automotive and construction sectors.

Products

Extruded profiles

In addition to an extensive range of standard profiles, special profiles are also produced in more than 40,000 different cross-sections to date. A specialty are u. a. insulated profiles (with thermal break) for window and facade construction.

At the Liesberg location, three extrusion presses produce aluminum profiles in the weight range between 200 g / m and 18 kg / m. The three extrusion presses of Aluminum Laufen have press forces of 2700, 3500 and 4000 tons. Around 1000 new customer-specific profile tools are set up every year.

Cast aluminum

Depending on the specification, mechanical, thermal and chemical stresses during further use and the required number, the cast parts are manufactured using the permanent mold casting , the low-pressure casting or the die-casting process.

The designers and mold-making specialists use CAD and simulation programs.

history

The company was founded in Laufen in 1927 and one year later started producing aluminum containers and aluminum castings.

In 1961 a new extrusion plant was built in Liesberg and expanded continuously in the following years.

With the move into the new foundry and the administration building in Liesberg, the entire company has been on the same site again since 1993.

After the founding families had provided the main shareholders for more than 75 years, the company was taken over in 2005 as part of a succession plan by a group of mostly local entrepreneurs under the leadership of Laufen entrepreneur Alex Kummer.

In 2018 a new production site was opened in Tunis, Tunisia.
