The Aluminum Norf GmbH (short AluNorf ) is a joint venture of Novelis and Norsk Hydro . According to the company, it is the largest aluminum melting and rolling mill in the world with a melting capacity of approx. 1.05 million tons, a hot rolling capacity of approx. 1.65 million tons and a cold rolling capacity of approx. 1.40 million tons .
history
Aluminum Norf GmbH was founded in April 1965 as a joint venture between the former Alcan (today Novelis) and the then United Aluminum Works (today: Hydro Aluminum). As a result, the largest aluminum rolling and melting plant in Europe at the time for processing aluminum into strips and sheets was created in Norf bei Neuss. With the largest expansion between 1990 and 1994, Aluminum Norf GmbH - AluNorf for short - became the largest aluminum rolling and melting plant in the world.
