Aluva (formerly Alwaye ) is a city in the state of Kerala in southern India , located on a natural harbor on the Malabar coast . Aluva is about 15 kilometers north of downtown Kochi on the Periyar River. As a major transportation hub with easy access to all major modes of transportation, Aluva acts as a corridor connecting the highland districts with the rest of the state. The Cochin International Airport in Nedumbassery is located 11.7 km away from Aluva. Aluva can be reached by train (Alwaye station), plane and metro.
