Américo Cruz y Fernández

Américo Cruz y Fernández (* 1908 ; † 1999 ) was a Cuban diplomat .

Life

Cruz became the third-class legation secretary in 1930. In 1936 he was transferred from Colombia to Tokyo . In 1940 he was second-class delegation secretary in Rome . In 1944 he was employed by the immigration authorities in the department 'Negociado de Cartas de Ciudadanía'. From 1944 to 1947 he was chargé d'affaires in Tegucigalpa . In 1947 he headed the migration authority.

From November 14, 1952 to 1953, he was Chargé d'Affaires in Ottawa . From April 22nd to October 1960 he was ambassador to Buenos Aires . Arturo Frondizi's government found letters from supporters of Juan Perón in his suitcase and expelled him. From June 16, 1964 to June 21, 1968 he was ambassador to Ottawa.

From June 21, 1968 to January 1978 he was ambassador to Bern .
