Américo Gomes

Américo Gomes (* around 1974 in Guinea-Bissau ) is a Guinea-Bissau pop singer.

Career

Gomes started singing at the age of thirteen after winning first place in a competition hosted by Radio France Internationale . After his return he worked for the local radio station Radio Nacional de Guinea-Bissau .

In 1990 he moved to Portugal , where his first CD was released. Four CDs have been released since then. After the release of his first CD, he moved to Germany , where he lived and studied for eight years. Then he went back to Portugal. There he founded his own record label, A. Gomes Lda.

In his home country Guinea-Bissau he is the most famous pop singer. Performances abroad took place in Macau and Luxembourg .

His music style is a mixture of soul , rhythm and blues , gumbe and zouk . His greatest success in his home country was the song Bissau , for which the music video was created in 2011.
