Ama-duga

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ama-duga , possibly also Akatiya , was a Mariot wife of Šamši-Adad I and possibly the mother of Jasmaḫ-Addu and his sister Kun-šimatum . It appears in cuneiform texts from Mari up to the time of Zimrī-Līm . She resided in the palace of Mari , where she was responsible for important administrative functions, which she also kept under the rule of Jasmaḫ-Addus, who at that time was already married to Bēltum . Only under the government of Zimrī-Līms did it lose its importance, although it could not be clarified whether it might not appear less prominent because it moved to another palace. Her Sumerian name, Ama-duga , may be an official name given to her as part of her office at the Royal Palace. Therefore it is believed that it is identical to the Akatiya attested in older texts .
