Amalia Zaldúa

Amalia Zaldúa (born October 29, 1927 in Tacuarembó , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan choir director .

The teacher Zaldúa, who has lived in Salto since 1937, took over the chair for choral conducting and musical education at the Instituto Normal in Salto in 1965 . In 1977 the Cantares Choir was founded to support it, and four years later the Asociación Coral Cantares was founded. In addition to numerous performances in her hometown or at the Teatro Solís , she has also appeared internationally with her choir. In the founding year, they took part in the International Festival in Extremadura , Spain , followed by appearances in Rome and in 1993 and 1997 in the Vatican . Again in Spain she was present with her choir at the 20th International Choir Week in Álava and in 2001 at the third Choir Days of Burgos . In 2011, Zaldúa announced the resignation of her managerial position.
