Amani (coin)

Amani is the name of a former Afghan gold coin that was issued during the reign of King Amanullah Khan from 1921 to 1929. Amani is an Arabic word that is also used as a female first name, meaning desire , obligation , longing . The coin was exchanged 1: 1 for the British pound. After the currency reform in 1926, 20 Afghanis were equivalent to one Amani .
