from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Amateur Transplants is the name of a British comedy - music duo , consisting of doctors Adam Kay and Suman Biswas. Both studied medicine at Imperial College in London.

Career

Amateur Transplants became famous in 2005 with a parody of “Going Underground” by The Jam entitled “London Underground”, in which they criticized the underground strike in London. From their first album "Fitness to Practice" they donated 10 percent of the proceeds to a cancer foundation. In 2007 the live DVD "The Black and White Menstrual Show" was released.

Since 2005 they have performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe .

style

Amateur transplants use familiar, sometimes classic, but mostly modern melodies. They provide these with texts with mostly medical content, which in some cases such as “the drugs song” and “masochism tango 2008” are based directly on the work of the American mathematician and satirist Tom Lehrer or are based on his style. The lyrics are mostly characterized by deep black humor.
