The Ambre-Bobaomby volcanic field is located on the northern tip of the island of Madagascar . The volcanic activity in this area began with the construction of a large basaltic massif and small pyroclastic flows. The volcanic rocks show a large geochemical spectrum with basaltic, andesitic, rhyolitic, trachytic and phonolitic compositions. At the southern end of the massif there are some younger cones and crater lakes .
