Ameinias (trierarch 480 BC)
Ameinias ( ancient Greek Ἀμεινίας ) was a Greek captain of the Trier from the Attic Demos Pallene . According to Diodor 9,7,2 he was a brother of the poet Aeschylus . Ameinias took part in the battle of Salamis in 480 BC. ( Herodotus 8, 43, 93), and is said to have been the first Greek to sank a Persian ship. He is said to have almost sunk the ship of Artemisia , Queen of Halicarnassus ; this is said to have saved itself only by sinking one of its ships.
