The American Center was a French cultural foundation and institution in Paris .

The people in charge of the art and culture center , which was originally founded in the 14th arrondissement and was donated from US private wealth, commissioned Frank O. Gehry with the design of a new building, which from 1988 to 1994 on the edge of the Parc de Bercy 12th arrondissement ( Paris) was created.

The American Center went after moving into bankruptcy and sold the building in 1996th

Today it is home to the Cinémathèque française film institute , to which a film museum and a cinema are attached.
