The American Snuff Company, LLC (until 2010: Conwood Company, LLC) is a division of the tobacco company Reynolds American and a producer of snuff . The American Snuff Company was bought by Reynolds American in mid-2006 for $ 3.5 billion. It generates around 7% of Reynolds American's annual sales.
The American Snuff Company produces Hawken Wintergreen Tobacco, as well as the Grizzly and Kodiak brands . It is the second largest producer of smoke-free tobacco products in the United States .
The American Snuff Company's roots predate the United States. Captain John Garret of the 6th Delaware Militia set up a snuff mill in Red Clay Creek, Delaware during the American Revolutionary War in 1782 . The 1870 Garret trademark (US patent) is the oldest trademark in the United States that has been in continuous use.
