The American Toy Terrier or Toy Fox Terrier is a non- FCI recognized dog breed from the United States.

The breed, which has been bred since 1936, is a cross between short- haired Fox Terriers and English dwarf terriers and Chihuahuas .
It has retained all the characteristics of a real terrier: robust, intelligent, alert, lively, curious, but also has its own head. He is a very small dog with up to 25.5 cm and 3 kg in weight . The fur should be white / tan, three-colored, black / white. In contrast to many other terriers, the ears are triangular and upright.

Health issues
In the American Toy Terrier, there is a tendency to a genetically determined weakness of the suspension system of the eye lens and thus to a lens displacement , possibly with secondary glaucoma . There is a genetic test to detect this eye disease.
