The American University of Armenia (German American University of Armenia , Armenian Հայաստանի ամերիկյան համալսարան ) is a private university in Yerevan , Armenia and is organized on the American model. A number of Masters courses are offered in English.
history
The idea to found the company came up after the Spitak earthquake in 1988 . With the support of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) and the University of California , the university was founded on September 21, 1991, the Armenian Independence Day, with 101 students enrolled at the time.
