Amiina is an Icelandic band that was founded in Reykjavík in 1998 , initially under the name Amina .
All four members attended the tónlistarskólinn í reykjavík (Reykjavík Music School) during this time . They first began to play as a string quartet at various events in Iceland, before turning to their own compositions, mainly inspired by their collaboration with Sigur Rós . In December 2004 the first EP Animamina was released .
Their debut album, Kurr , was released on March 21, 2007, followed by a tour of North America in March and April. In 2010 the quartet released the follow-up album Puzzle at Morr Music . In November 2016 the third studio album Fantômas was released.
