Eberhard Wille

Eberhard Wille (born April 15, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German economist.

Life

After attending the Johannes-Gymnasium Lahnstein , Wille studied economics at the University of Bonn . In 1969 he did his doctorate with Kurt Schmidt at the University of Mainz , where he also completed his habilitation in 1973 in the subjects of "Economics and Finance" . Since 1975 he has held a professorship at the University of Mannheim .

His main focus is on health economics and the consolidation of public budgets. He was or is a member of various advisory groups to the federal government and federal authorities. From 1999 to 2001 he was chairman of the health economic committee in the Verein für Socialpolitik .

Wille had been a member of the Advisory Council for Concerted Action in Health Care since 1993, and since 2002 he has been chairman of this body after Friedrich-Wilhelm Schwartz resigned from this position. Wille is also the chairman of the successor body, the Advisory Council for the Assessment of Developments in the Health Care System , which replaced the previous council in 2004 after the concerted action in the health system was abolished by the law on the modernization of statutory health insurance.

He was a co-signer of the Euro-critical manifesto The Monetary Policy Decisions of Maastricht: A Threat to Europe (1992).

Eberhard Wille was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2009. He received this honor for his commitment to health policy.
