Aminata Maiga Ka

Aminata Maïga Ka (born January 11, 1940 in Saint-Louis , † November 2005 ; full name Rokhaya Aminata Maïga Ka ) was a Senegalese writer .

Maïga Ka was born into a Muslim family where French , Peul , Wolof, and Bambara were spoken. She studied in Senegal, France and the United States . She then worked as an English teacher as well as for UNESCO and the Senegalese government. The political activist Maïga Ka was a member of the Parti socialiste .

As an author, Maïga Ka thematized social problems of Senegalese society from a female point of view and in French. In her literary critical works, she dealt with the authors Mariama Bâ and Aminata Sow Fall .

Aminata Maïga Ka was married to the playwright and journalist Abdou Anta Ka and had six children.
