Amir Ansari

Amir Ansari ( listen ? / I ; PersianAudio file / audio sample امیر انصاری[ æˈmiːɾ ɛ ænsɑːˈɾiː ]; * 1970 in Tehran , Iran ) is an American entrepreneur.

At the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Ansari emigrated to the USA, where he obtained a bachelor's degree. In 1993 he founded the telecommunications company tti (telecom technologies incorporated) together with his brother Hamid and his sister-in-law Anousheh . Amir became Chief Technology Officer. In 2000, the US group Sonus Networks took over tti for 550 million US dollars and Amir worked for a short time in the Sonus subsidiary INtelligentIP (INIP).

With the money from Sonus Networks, the three Ansaris founded a new company in early 2006: Prodea Systems is a capital investment company based in Plano ( Texas ).

Ansari is one of the greatest donors of the Ansari X-Prize . The prize for the first private space flight was named after him and his sister-in-law Anousheh in May 2004.
