Ammeln is an old Westphalian peasantry and a district of Ahaus in the Borken district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1969 Ammeln formed a community in the former district of Ahaus .

Ammeln is located east of the city center of Ahaus. The former municipality of Ammeln last had an area of ​​9.8 km². Today's Ahauser districts and residential areas Ammeln-Kapelle, Brink, Brook, Fleer and Kolonie Oldenburg are located in the old Ammelner area.

history

After the Napoleonic era , the Ammeln farmers initially belonged to the mayor's office in Wüllen in the Ahaus district founded in 1816. With the introduction of the Westphalian rural community code in 1844, the mayor's office in Wüllen became the Wüllen office , to which the two communities Ammeln and Wüllen belonged.

On July 1, 1969, Ammeln was incorporated into the city of Ahaus together with Wüllen by the law on the reorganization of communities in the Ahaus district .
