The law for the reorganization of communities in the Ahaus district was promulgated on June 27, 1969 and restructured 13 communities in the Ahaus district .
At the same time, the law on the amalgamation of the municipalities of the Schöppingen Office, District Ahaus came into force on June 2, 1969, through which the new municipality of Schöppingen was formed from the three municipalities of the Schöppingen Office, which was dissolved at the same time .
By Muenster / Hamm-law to January 1, 1975 other municipalities of the district Ahaus were reorganized, the circle Ahaus (1 January 1939 - 30 September 1969: County Ahaus) was dissolved and the cities and towns the new district of Borken assigned .
