The law on the reorganization of communities in the district of Halle on a voluntary basis restructured some communities in the district of Halle (Westphalia) (1939–1969: district of Halle (Westphalia)) in Westphalia. Twelve congregations were merged into a new congregation and three more were incorporated into another congregation, so that the number of congregations belonging to the district was reduced from 37 to 23. In addition, the Borgholzhausen office was dissolved.
The law was passed by the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia on June 10, 1969, executed by the state government on June 18, 1969 and published in the law and regulation gazette for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on June 30, 1969 . It came into force on July 1, 1969.
As a result of the Bielefeld Act on January 1, 1973, the remaining communities in the Halle district were restructured. The district of Halle (Westphalia) was dissolved and the previous district area was almost completely assigned to the new district of Gütersloh . Only the community of Schröttinghausen was largely incorporated into the independent city of Bielefeld .
